post bb, or in the co?
Not sure which forum to post this one in...
In terms of $$/hand, which is more profitable, assuming a 10 handed table: posting in the bb, or posting in the co? I always post my bb unless I start out in the co, but maybe this is not the best choice? Pay 1 sb and see 7 hands (the "best" 7 however, in terms of position) = .14/hand + the positional advantage vs pay 1.5 sb and see 10 hands = .15/hand w/ no positional advantage. Is this logic correct? |

Re: post bb, or in the co?
If you either
A) pass on posting the BB and post at the CO OR B) sit down at or near the CO and don't post... ...you look like a nit. NOW ask yourself, ... ....do you really want to look like me? ~ Rick |

Re: post bb, or in the co?
Are you referring to when u initially sit down at the table? Or do you mean in general, to not post your bb and wait till the button passes? In live game I almost always wait for the button to go by before posting my initial bb for the reasons you describe. Also I only have to post the bb in this case and not the small. Since it is the first hand for me technically I have not missed my small blind. ( That is the rule in my local casino this may vary from place to place)

Re: post bb, or in the co?
post behind at 2/3 sb, post the bb at everything else; I havent done the math but it seem intuitively right, for whatever thats worth

Re: post bb, or in the co?
I am talking specifically about online where no one cares if you wait. Also, I'm not interested in hourly considerations (e.g. the money you lose by waiting to post) but by the $$/hand.

Re: post bb, or in the co?
live, this depends on your initial read of the table. If you look around and see grandma calling stations everywhere, then it's more than likely to be a cutoff post situation. Yes, online players, 15/30 and up live is still usually call station central.
If it appears to be a particularly tough game, it might be better to wait until bb so that you can get some reads, and not pay the extra bb. Also, the amount of dead money or other people posting should affect your decision. |

Re: post bb, or in the co?
Right. It seems too simple though. If this were all there is to it, why doesn't everyone post in the co online?
