A super KK fold
Super thurs (150/12) on party, very early.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t60 (10 handed) MP2 (t14781) Hero (t8210) CO (t7055) Button (t2162) SB (t5655) BB (t7160) UTG (t4780) UTG+1 (t8290) UTG+2 (t12986) MP1 (t4376) Preflop: Hero is MP3 with K, K. UTG raises to t250, 4 folds, Hero raises to t821, 4 folds, UTG (fairly promptly) calls t571. Flop: (t1732) J, Q, 7 (2 players) UTG (thinks for a few secs and) bets t600, Hero calls t600. Turn: (t2932) 4 (2 players) UTG (thinks for a few secs and) bets t1000, Hero folds. Final Pot: t3932 It felt right, but for some reason I cringe folding an overpair early in a mtt when fish abound. Any thoughts welcome. |

Im not going to lie, you have 1.7k posts and I have no idea if this post is for real or not. Sarcasm isn't well detected on the net.

Re: A super KK fold
Hmmmm. I probably call the turn, call the river and kick the wall when he flips up a set.

I'm shoving over the turn so fast. [/ QUOTE ] Why? You are folding out anything you beat and getting repopped by anything that beats you if you play it like that. I know I fold AQ if someone makes that move on the turn. The play is probably to make it 2,000 on the flop and cry if he repops. |

Re: A super KK fold
I see top pair calling time and time again, but perhaps I'm over eager.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not going to lie, of your 80 posts I haven't seen one thats been helpful to the forum. Humor me and pretend to analyze the hand before you post. kthx If you shove the turn, what are you planning to get called by? If you call the turn, what do you do when he bets 2400 ish on river? |

Re: A super KK fold
People SUCK in the Super, this is AQ much more often than QQ/JJ. In fact if he checked the river I'd value bet.
edit: That means I call the turn |

Re: A super KK fold
Sure, buddy I can do that. Your problem is pretty simple, you have absolutely no plan for the hand post flop. Preflop looks fine. When he bets 600 on the flop into a pot of ~1700 ask yourself why you call (almost 4-1). Now we see a 4 ball roll off on the turn (which completes the rainbow) and he bets 1k into a pot of 2900 (almost 4-1). Why do you fold here?
To fix this, have a plan for your hand after he bets. From your read on the player, are you likely ahead here? If yes, is he likely to be on a draw or a made hand. This will determine whether or not you should raise him now (because of free cards hurting us). If likely behind, fold. After a total blank rolls off, we are presented w/ almost the same situation except now we should raise if we think we're ahead because he's totally pot committed. In other words, calling the flop to fold on a blank turn shows total lack of organization. Hope this helps, friend. |
