my instinct is that your playing for set value after the pf 3bet. i don't see AK 3-betting pf too often (of course i play at weak tight stars)

I don't think calling the flop bet is an option. You either believe he has a better hand and fold, or you dont and you shove, but you cant call and leave him 16 behind. That bet looks like AK to me.

Also, raise more preflop. The way you played it he is justified in calling preflop with a lot of hands. Make it $8 or something.
