Default quick live bankroll question

I plan to play mostly 1/2 and 2/5 100bb+ stacked nl in vegas this week. I also might take a shot at 5/10 if there is a particularily juicy game. How much do you think I should take? I'd rather not have to use my credit card to get more cash when there.

how many days will you be there?

i usually bring 5 buyins with me for a 1 night session. and i've had to play on case money before.

The 5/10 games will be ridiculous on a friday night. I played 5/10 in AC 3 or 4 times, it is soft as hell. I'd bring 10K, and leave some of it in a safe at your hotel desk, or get a box at the cage of your main casino.

definitely bring 10k then if you are gonna take a shot at 5/10

if you weren't playing 5/10, i'd say bring 6k.

Even if you have no intention of putting case money on the table, it is psychologically comforting to bring extra. I can't speak for you, but I play worse if I know I'm going home if I lose. without the 5/10 shot, i'd bring 6k, with no intention of putting anything beyond 3k on the table. when you get to that 6th $500 buyin you will be comforted knowing you have $3k more.

..does this make sense? basically playing on case money sucks so bring a lot.

it also leaves room for you to splurge on a bottle or something if you don't run hot, vegas is expensive

Thanks. I wasn't planning on bringing this much. So 6k is 12 buyins, is the variance that bad at 2/5? Does variance go up or down when playing deeper stacked?

I just got back from Vegas and played nothing but $2/$5 NL at the RIO for 3 1/2 days (50 hours). I brought $4K along and didn't feel that I was ever playing on a short roll. I also recommend applying for a VIP Preferred Card at the Wynn because you can leave some cash at home in your checking account and with this card you can cash up to $15K at the Wynn, or Bellagio too I believe, and some other places that have this system also. Much less hassle than getting a line of credit at a casino.

However, I assume you know that the $5/$10 NL plays much higher in some places than double the $2/$5 games. The $5/$10 stacks are pretty huge in some games. In fact when the Aussies and Brits got in off a flight one night one of them bought for 25K and was pushing the table around pretty well (until some mid level pros got in the game and finally broke him). Soooooo, if you want to play $2/5 you should be ok with around 5K, but if you want to jump to the $5/$10 have an alternate plan to bump your roll should you need it. Just my opinion and 2 cents worth. Good Luck by the way. There's lots of money for the taking out there right now.

Whenever I go to Vegas to play 1/2 or 1/3 (Wynn) I bring about $2500, and I never feel like I'm short. In fact I always feel like I brought too much becasue I'm tempted to buyin to a $500-buyin MTT.

I was in your exact same boat and brought 7.5K. But that's just me. Probably 3-5K would be good but I wanted some serious spending money, too.

Well since there are going to be lots of great (read incredible, donktasic, spewing, OMFG I can't beleive you played that hand) 5/10 games this week and next week, better load for bear. It's prime time for NL in LV this week, bring lots and plan on playing higher than 2/5.
