After taking a couple bad beats and running into AA a few times, I was on pseudo-tilt and determined to make a comeback. The table was very tight with me being the only exception (at least at this point). Everyone else, villian included, was less than a 20/10. So, I start raising everything (like 80% in the past 20 hands and have made a nice comeback from 5 bucks left), and win almost every pot preflop or with a c-bet. I'm in the BB here and take the free flop and actually have a hand for once, but encounter resistance. I have a big drawing hand - is this a call? Does my image matter? It seemed to me an obvious call given what the people had to be thinking of me, but what if I was playing like my regular TAG self and was deeper stacked?

Table select better. Learn this lesson now, it's going to get increasingly more important.

1. Determined to make a comeback isn't pseudo-tilt. Its tilt.
2. If the table is very tight you may want to work on table selection. Unless by tight you mean tight and passive, or weak-tight. 3. If villain is tight, what range does he limp with and min raise that flop? You have to have some notion of what he is holding, because without fold equity this is a rotten push IMO. A call is fine, but I wouldn't push here without a fair idea villain would fold. |

Here is where I reveal my weak tight nature.
With the reraise by SB, who is to say your flush is good if you do hit it? If he had Axd wouldn't he raise here to protect his flush draw? |

go ahead and push, you have some fold equity and probably the best hand

Easiest push ever with a $30 stack. If you had $130 then we can discuss options.

Villain limped from the SB. I think we're way ahead of his range, and we have to have some FE with a push. I push.

Well, I lost a monster pot to same guy and had 5 bucks left, and was ready for bed, thus me not reloading. Worked stack up because table was weak-tight and was able to win small pot after small pot, double up once with AT v 22 all-in preflop (he called my push), so it's not like it was a really bad table.
aj - if I did have 130, how do you play this hand? Do you smooth call flop, raise? What do you do to a re-raise? Given this guys numbers, I would probably call, because I only think he's calling a re-raise with a set or overpair here (yes, he was that tight). What about against a regular, TA player - how much are we willing to risk on this draw? |
