Default Who Can Fold 2 Pair?

Villian is SB. He raised UTG with A8 a few hands eariler and I took down the pot UTG+1 with AQ on a blank board when an A came on the river and value betted it. Also I got in a confrontation when he raised on the button 3x and i reraised in SB with A10. He shoved and I folded. He is in the top 5 of the 50 people left and I'm in the top 10. He is raising quite a bit preflop and getting respect. I don't like how I played it. What should I have done?

edit: Also on the turn I used most of my time bank to call, so he probably figures me for a marginal hand.

Definitely. But if you make it to the flop, fold there. If you somehow make it to the turn, push I guess, but it's irrelevant because you should have folded twice already.

I don't mind the call preflop. The guy seems like a big bluffer, and J10 is a transparent hand which you can get alot of value from if he goes crazy.

Lucky you! he went crazy!. I would probably push this turn instead of calling though.

Edit - I don't mind the flop call either. He will probably slow down if he has nothing, and you will be able to take it down on the turn. If the turn comes a brick, and he leads strong again, then I would fold. But I wouldnt give him alot of credit here.

The convertor messed up, BB is 4000, so SB's raise was 2.5x, not 5x. I'd probably fold to 5x. I like the way you played it. Shoving the turn is no good because it stops Villain from bluffing. If he hits a 5-outer on you, TS.

Does anyone like a flop raise with the intention of folding to a push? Villian has folded to big raises in the past, and any more action prolly means we are behind. Also, if I get to the turn, I'm pushing. If he out-2 pr'd me, too bad for Hero.

Please push the turn, ~83k in the pot, 169k left in your stack

After a call ~128k in the pot, ~124k left, a pot sized raise isn't huge and I think you're pushing any river, so my inclination to to just push it in now.

First off, he raised 2.5x preflop. I didn't understand why the converter did what it did. My first thought was to raise the flop and then I know where I stand. If reraised instant fold. But my buddy I was IMing with at the time said to call and see what happens on the turn. On the turn when he bet pot basically I felt a reraise would get him to fold all worse hands except maybe for AK and AQ. My buddy said to fold assuming he only has 2 pair or better, but he plays weak, tight in tournaments so I called. On the river I still think he will make a bluff attempt given the read on him. I will post what he had later tonight.
