PP .50/1.00 - Missing with AKos
A problem with playing AK ... When I get raised on the flop, here, what is my play the rest of this hand ??? I SHOULD know that I'm beat here, especially after I check the turn and see villian bet, I'm assuming ...

Re: PP .50/1.00 - Missing with AKos
I don't mind your calldown here. BB's raise looks rather suspicious given this dry flop. He could be making a play at you. But we don't really have a read on BB, so if we calldown, it's really just paying 2BB's for a read (which may not be worth much when BB has us spanked with a boat) and the chance he's making a play with XY.
I think the standard move here is to check/fold the turn. If you have a read on BB that you can call down, it's not a bad play. One of the problems in this instance is that the 5 completes the straight draw. However, 87 shouldn't be raising the flop much less be calling preflop. Overpairs and sets are the most likely hands here. His flop raise may be to try and induce excess action from overpairs, hence the turn check/fold. |

IMO, the most read sensitive situation in the game, is playing overcards. With no read on the BB, it is impossible for me to discern whether you played this hand correctly or not.

Sans read I fold the river. We have odds to draw on the turn as long as we are not up against 87 or two pair.

if you end up calling the turn according to genesis' logic (or x reason) do you bet/fold, check/call or check/fold when the river pairs?

In this specific hand, the pot is actually large enough to justify calling a turn bet IMO. So In this hand, with no read, I would call the flop and the turn and check/fold the river unimproved. |

"We have odds if..."
Wow, that can get you in some trouble. There's no way you can say 6 outs here without a read. Fold the turn. |

Re: PP .50/1.00 - Missing with AKos
Right. *If* you have your full complement of six outs, then it is just barely okay to call the turn bet, but folding would not be a big mistake.
On the other hand, if villain decided to call preflop with 99, 66, or 22, we have exactly zero outs and calling the turn is a huge mistake. Add in a couple hands that have us reverse-dominated, and I'm not seeing a turn call unless we think our hand is good UI. |
