Playing in a home game. Pretty loose game with lots of callers preflop. I am in the CO w/ 65 or so. Blinds are 1/2 (I bought in Short Stacked, but about even for the game)
I have not been playing many hands (new to the game) and I have a tight/passive image. I have been trying to read the players before I start playing my game. I have seen 20 or so hands up to this one. Hero (65) Villian covers (The couple of hands he has shown, he has had an A) Villian raises in MP to 5. Hero (CO) calls with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Blinds call 4 to the flop ($20) Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB: Checks BB: Bets $3 Villian: Raises $5 Hero: $8 to me in the CO. What is my play? I am putting him on the A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] but I am pretty sure I have him out kicked. Do I call here? Reraise? And if so, how much? Or do I need to be pushing? Do I need to reraise PF or is the call the right play? Thanks in advance. |

Make it $20, get the rest in on the turn if it doesn't get in on the flop. I love donkish home games, $3 and $5 flop bets with $20 out there already (and BTW that raise to $5 is illegal, it has to be to at least $6, but that's nitpicking).

Thin the field a little, and make people pay for the next card if they're on a flush draw. |

Ah yes I see now ... my advice stands, sorry for the misread.

Big re-raise, call a push. Push any turn. Doubt you are behind here often enough to leave anything on the table.

No worries.
It comes to me, I say "Raise" but I am thinking about how much. The SB and BB fold out of turn and before I can declare my raise, Villian says "I am all-in" Easy call correct? |

Yes easy call. You're not getting away from this shortstacked in a home game (or most live games) ever IMO.

You want to call him here. You may get an extra $5 from the BB. villian is going to bet turn hard and then you come over the top all in. You come over the top on the flop, they may both fold. The only thing you're dodging is a diamond on this turn.

I think this is a pretty easy call. Not sure if you have any read on Villain here, but I'm not sure it really matters.
At a loose home game, he easily have AJ, A10, and think he's good... He might have Ax and not be worried about the kicker. Loose players at home games play any ace like it's magic... Sure, he might have AK or 99, but odds are, you're ahead. If you're behind here, it's a bad beat... But I can't see any way you fold this. |
