I never tried doing this and it would certainly be out of charatcer for me. But there's something about being at the WSOP that makes me want to at least pretend that I'm a high-roller. That being said, does this even work? And if it works, is a 100 bucks an amount that will be laughed at by the guy at the front desk?
I'm staying at the Monte Carlo, by the way, and my intention would be to snag some sort of suite. |

I asked a prostitute I took back to my room about this. She said that it depends on the hotel and the individual you give it to. Some will accept it and others wont. She said to ask them if there any upgrades available and pretend you are reaching for money and their reaction will make it obvious.

i was upgraded to a suite once at borgata in AC.
it basically just came down to i got there at about midnight and they had open ones. i suppose checking in late and simply asking if they could upgrade you somehow might be better than slipping the 100. i doubt if your staying long they would be able to do it (maybe one night). the older casinos dont seem to have that many suites. but if you check the wynn site they have alot of different types available unfortunately at a minimum of 400 a night. palms baller suite 10K a night. |

$100 is way too much for the Monte Carlo. I got a suite for $20 at the Venetian, although that was midweek and it was pretty dead.

$20 is standard for this type of thing.

If you're ever staying in Vegas with a girl - tell them it's your honeymoon. Tons of free upgrades. Just giggle and smooch a lot when you check in.

$20 worked for me @ Mandalay Bay in May on a 6 night stay. I'm staying @ the Rio next week so I'm gonna give it a shot. Has anyone stayed @ the Rio before and is there a big difference in rooms as they are all suites?

After reading here and other places about the "$20 trick" I tried it at the Bellagio at the end of June. We were already booked for a suite, so I went for the "fountain view" upgrade (usually +50/night).
When I asked the checkin girl about the upgrade (with the $25 chip in my hand, lightly twirling it on the counter) she told me they had *already* upgraded me to that, and at no charge. Well, now I felt stupid. I meekly stuck the greenie back in my pocket, thanked her, and headed upstairs. It probably helped that I checked in after 11 PM. So this prbably doesn't count as a $20 trick success story. |

[/ QUOTE ] so since it *is* actually our honeymoon... I'm checking into the Palms on Thursday. I've never heard of this stuff before this thread because I suck at high rolling. What exactly is my play? |
