Default mauer swing on the front page of espn

There is an 8 frame clip of a Joe Mauer swing on ESPN right now. As somebody who took a lot of hitting leasons in high school and early college it's amazing how perfect each part of Mauer's swing is.

From starting his swing with a slight weight shift forward and movement of his back knee before his hands, to the direct line his hands take to the ball, to the balance (you could draw a straight line from head, through his knee to the ground) in his follow through. As a huge baseball nerd dragging through the clip was a thing of beauty

I don't mean to hijack, but did anyone check out the video of Tiger's swing on nikegolf.com? Really cool slow motion and an unbelievably perfect swing. I must have watched it 50+ times from all the different angles.

Evan,

I don't mean to post a picture of a boar in this thread, but well, here's a picture of a boar... in this thread.

Hobbs,

This is pretty awesome. It's about the first time I think ESPN has ever done something like this (in terms of spastic use of java/whatever) and had it rule this hard.

Its a shame they spend 5 shots on the relatively meaningless follow through and miss the most important part of the swing (the inital timing mechanism)

Wow! (Both for the unrelatedness of your comment and the awesomeness of Tiger's swing).

Yeah, I agree completely. The trigger stride is the most important part of the swing, next to the hands cutting across the chest.

Both swings are something to marvel at.

BTW, for those that can't find something in common with two top athletes having their swings broken down on a web page, wtf?!
