Default my raise w/ Junk hits.

Paradise Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

saw flop|saw showdown

UTG ($92.25)
Button ($132.55)
Hero ($220.90)
BB ($118.00)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $0.50.
UTG calls $1, Button calls $1, Hero (poster) raises to $5.5, BB calls $4.50, UTG calls $4.50, Button calls $4.50.

I raised to steal and also to get my PFRes up so that they would pay me more when I had the goods.

Flop: ($22) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets $15, BB calls $15, UTG raises to $86.75, Button folds, Hero raises to $158.5, BB folds.

OK, I hit but represent some kind of good overpair. UTG and I have played one big hand. He lost a big hand to me w/ KK when I put him all in on the flop for $100 w/ my flush/wheel draw and as it turned out, A overcard. He thought I played that hand badly.

The question is, is this an instant call? I thought just a moment of the possibility that he had A6s but then thought it more likely AA/KK or a sc w/ the 6... and put mine in as well. Does he put me all in on the flop w/ 88?

Turn: ($282.25) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)

River: ($282.25) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)

Final Pot: $282.25

Insta-call? Yep. Most likely, you were the only one who lost his mind pre-flop, so you can usually rule out someone playing A6 or K6.... You can rule out pocket sixes, obviously... I might be a little nervous that someone got carried away with 88 and got even luckier than you on the flop. But I don't think there's any getting away from this...

I'm guessing that King on the river ruined the party?

Never making a squeeze play from the blinds at SSNL isn't bad, but doing it once in a while is all but "absolutely horrible".

Except for the open limping (which is bad), UTG never got "carried away" if he has 88 here, calling the pf raise IP with 88 is so standard.

Well, I made my decision to do this occasionally after reading NLH:TAP where DS says to occasionally raise with the very worst hands from the blinds after limpers. This was it. I think the reasons outlined in the book are reasonable.

The real question is, does the UTG AI tell me I'm beat often enough to warrent a fold? I think no. Very unlikely UTG has K6 but he could have 88 or A6s. Thats two hands that beat me. He could also have AA, KK, 56s, 67s. I think my odds justify the call.

Any more comments that should be made?

Meh, I don't think you should look to get away from this. 88 or even A6 wouldn't really need to play this fast. I think you get shown crap/worse 6's enough for this to be +EV. Preflop is interesting. nh.

You squeeze, its fine.

They call, thats bad.

You hit something, thats fine. You get action and resistance, thats bad.

You go broke, thats horrible.

Unless UTG is a cluless donkey, this is never ever good.

It's funny that everyone thinks I went broke here. MHIG and he had a worse 6. Usually when I lose a pot like this I can tell what went wrong. I worry more when I win them because I don't want my thoughts to be skewed by results and call the flop AI all the time when I shouldn't.
