Flopping the nuts, deep stacks NL 1000 6max
Villian in this hand has been playing fairly solid, and has cold decked a few people to get his stack. He has 3400 and I have about 1800. Game is currently 5 handed.
I am on the button and get 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Villian raises UTG to $35. He does this fairly often, but hasn't really been too out of line yet. UTG+1 folds, I call, SB folds, BB calls. Flop is 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. BB bets $80. Villian raises to $220. What's my move? Pop it here, and it seems obvious what I have (or at least I have a set). I put villian on anything from an overpair to AKd or a set. Villian has raised big with overcards and a flush draw before. If I raise, how much? |

Ugh. Bit of a lame situation.
I think I just call here and pray BB shoves. |

I agree. Flat call
Pardon the hijack, but if you were the villain and had AK of diamonds here would you raise the flop bet or just call? |

Probably jack it to $350.

I like to call here and try to get it in on the turn if a safe card comes (assuming it doesn't get repopped behind you); if it gets bet into on the turn the pot will be big and you may get a bad call, if it is checked to you I would make a bet that leaves the illusion of folding equity in your opponents' minds, like 450ish.

basically this comes down to what type of player are you. Are you willing to take the chance on a safe turn to get more money or would you rather win what you can and more on.
Safe = push chances = flat call |

[ QUOTE ]
What's my move? Pop it here, and it seems obvious what I have (or at least I have a set). [/ QUOTE ] If anything I think calling reveals more of what you have. Unless your opponents think you're retarded and are the type of person that just flat call a big raise on a bad draw, a flat call just screams monster strength IMO. I think you're better off raising and hoping they don't put you on the nuts/set. In fact, if they have a set as well you will probably get their stack in. Not to mention there are a ton of scare cards on the turn that could kill your action which would be tragic given that you have some reasonably deep stacks. |

I think villain is showing he is attatched to his hand and if your read is correct I think you get paid off here with an overpair and possibly a set (not that villain is wrong for paying you off with a set).
I think there are too many turn cards which can scare you off your hand, and knowing the way I play, at least, I would reraise or push. |
