Default Can I do this with my 2001FP?

Currently I have 1 computer hooked up to my 2001FP using DVI. I have a 2nd older computer with just a Geforce 2 in it (so no DVI) and I was wondering if I could hook that up using the VGA port on the 2001FP and use the monitor almost like a switch so I could have both PCs hooked up with just 1 monitor. So basically I would have 1 PC using the DVI port and a 2nd PC using the VGA port of the monitor, with both PCs on at the same time. I would just try this but I don't want to accidently ruin my monitor if this is a big no-no.

It's certainly not designed for it. I would definitely ask dell before trying it...

All you really need is a KVM switch, newegg sells lots of them. The important thing is to make sure you get a high quality device because you're using a higher resolution than most people that need a KVM. After that it's a matter of making sure it's got the keyboard and mouse connections you want/need (usb or ps2).

It is designed for it. It works, i'm running a Mac mini and my PC on the monitor at the same time, no problems.

also if you mix that monitor setup with this:
http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/
you can use the same keyboard and mouse for both machines. cool setup.

Hm, this may very well put the 2001fp out in front of the Samsung 204T in my mind. Does anyone know if you can do this with the samsung also?

On another note, the 2001 has a USB hub built in, correct? It can also take svideo?

Yes. It has 4 inputs: DVI, VGA, Svideo, and the yellow component.
