Heroes of Might and Magic - (I, II, III, IV, and V)
the year was 1997(ish) - I was making 7 bucks/hr working for a crapola radio station and I ran the board for Rush and some other clowns in Mpls - my friends are all making money in IT, and I'm building my first PC by replacing a blown motherboard from an Acer box - it ends up being a Pentium 150 when I've overclocked it -
this is all to play Heroes of Might and Magic II - by then Heroes I had been out and Heroes II was the sequel - the game is a turn based strategy game where you build towns and armies and then fight it out on a battlefield where depending on the armies, heroes, and artifacts, you'd have a winner and a loser - because there were so many troop types with so many abilities, a lot of it was a best guess tactically on whether you could take the opponent or not - generally whoever got the first strikes got the last ones - the game evolved over the yrs but the engine is remarkably the same - Heroes V has just been released boasting better game balance, 3d graphics, and some cool stuff. Anyone here ever played the precedessors? - Anyone bought HOMM V yet? - two weeks ago I didn't have it and made 3 final tables - this week I had it and haven't opened an online site for gaming all week - this plus a half ounce of green = very very bad for socialization. but then if I was any good at that I wouldn't be writing here very often here's some more info - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes_of_Might_and_Magic rb |

i was thinking of ruining/wasting my life with world of warcraft (if i can never beat the 50's). would it be better to waste away slowly in fantasy computer land with heroes of might and magic?

I played King's Bounty as a kid and it was great, I still play it from time to time.

I still play III from time to time, it's also the most recent one I've played. I used to play I and II too, all are excellent games IMO.

I haven't played any of these yet...and I've played most good computer games in the past 10 years. I think I might pick them up eventually.
BTW...if you haven't seen the preview for "Dark Messiah of Might and Magic" check it out. It looks insanely awesome. |

Re: Heroes of Might and Magic - (I, II, III, IV, and V)
I used to play I an II obsessively in middle school. In fact just the other day I was wondering if there was any way I could find a copy of II or III to goof around with. Even when released, the graphics weren't amazing, but the games were so much fun to play. Upgrading the troops is the most addictive element of those games. Glad to hear the series is continuing.
