Recently I bought a new car. It's black and I have no garage, and the thing is ridiculously hard to keep clean. I find myself washing it 2 or 3 times a week, and waxing it maybe once a week. Is it possible to damage the paint by washing a car too much? FWIW I hand wash & wax.
Also FWIW I actually enjoy washing and waxing it; it's blazing [censored] hot out so it seems to be a pretty good workout polishing the thing. I just kind of zone out and don't have to think about anything. I'm just worried about the paint. |

I think I washed mine in February. I don't think you can hand buff out a factory paint job.

It is unecassary to wax it every week, washing it wont do much as long as you go to a decent car wash, or do it yourself. I wash mine every friday, but I probably only wax once a month if that.

Get a wash solution that doesn't strip wax if you don't already use one. I gotta believe even the touchless car washes use soap that is too harsh.

[/ QUOTE ] AH! ok. i guess that would require a super-clean looking car. i'm wondering about the waxing part, i think it's too much, once a week sounds a little over the top. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, that's why I asked. Whenever it rains, the water beads up nicely, but then it dries and leaves water spots. So then I have to wash it again. And every 2 or 3 washes I feel like I've probably stripped the wax, so I end up waxing it again. |

This is why I have a Grey vehicle. It hides the water marks and whatnot extremely well. I take it thru the local car wash once every couple of months. A few times a year I'll have somebody detail it.
