Default Film/TV Review Requests: August and September bonanza!!! ZOMG!

Okay, much as I welcome food and drink stuff here, it's time to fight back just a little.

I currently have limited internet access most of the time for the next 2-3 weeks, and wish to attempt 26 reviews (A-Z) in the months of August and September - and given no internet most of the time, I have more time on my hands than usual.

Here's what I have on my list, but if any of you can better my choices, please fire away, and I'll swap them for your suggestions if (i) I own or have watched recently the film/TV show you want (I own a lot) and/or (ii) you can give me a good justification for reviewing that (which means buying it, I'm not a renting kind of guy).

I particularly like suggestions for movies that are easily available but for one reason of another aren't as widely-seen as they maybe should be.

Here's my current list, a mix of old/new, weird and odd, some 'WTF is he reviewing that for, everyone in the world has seen it already?!?', and some classics too:

African Queen
Blood on Satan's Claw
Crossroads (NOT the Britney one)
Dogma
Eight Legged Freaks
Formula 51
Gangster No.1
Highlander
It
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
The Keep
Long Good Friday
Man Bites Dog
1984
Once Upon a Time in the West
Predator 2
Quadrophenia
Robocop
Seven Samurai
Top Secret
Unbreakable
The Vikings
Wages of Fear
Xtro
Year of the Comet
Zoolander

I don't think I've reviewed any of these before, but could be wrong.

Anyway, tell me what you want instead - and remember, reasons will have significant sway in what gets swapped around.

Don't let anyone talk you out of reviewing The Long Good friday, please! It's sensational!

For K, I'd like to see a review of Kiss Me Deadly, which must be one of the most violent and sexiest movies to have been produced under the production code. It is also fantastic and incredibly weird. Plus, Mickey Spillane, who wrote it, died this week.

I have already reviewed Kiss Me Deadly here

Also, there is a repository of film reviews done in OOT before this forum was created, here

There is a permanent link to this film repository in the sticky at the top of this forum, so check out all the old reviews before any more suggestions.

And God bless Mickey Spillane

DB, Let me suggest swaping Seven Samurai for Victor Erice's Spirit of the Beehive, both of which are being released by Criterion in September. (I believe Spirit of the Beehive has been available in Britain for some time.) I would be interested in your take on the film if you haven't seen it already, and both of the movies fall into the "masterpiece" category--at least in my estimation. In addition, it's less well known, I'm sure, than SS, and if you haven't seen it, I think you're in for a treat.

Also, this is one film that DVD collectors have been waiting anxiously for.

Yes to 'Spirit of the Beehive'

Tell me what you want instead...that's the point of me asking. I could do Jersey Girl, Johnny Dangerously, Judge Dredd, Joy Luck Club, Jarhead, Jackie Brown...

The only one I'd definitely really rather change is Zoolander, but I've already done Zulu, and getting stuck for other 'Z' films I feel it's worth reviewing...

I also am aware I'm sadly behind on several Bogart classics (<shame>Never seen Maltese Falcon</shame&gt, so I might jam these in too.

And this is possible, I did 26 reviews back in January, but it did burn me out somewhat...

Not a great film, but it isn't terrible.

Yep, unless another 'C' gets suggested. I like it a lot. And while it is often remembered for the music, it's actually a pretty well-put together road movie, with plenty of character-based drama.

If you want a real challenge for the letter C - try Cronenberg's Crash.
