Carseat on a plane.

Anyone have any thoughts/experience with this? My daughter is 2 1/2, and we're heading to Florida in a couple of weeks. I'd actually never thought about it until my wife mentioned we should bring the carseat for the plane trip. I did a bit of research and most experts recomend it as to the airlines. Only downside I see is carrying that bastard around.

Look into one called the sit-n-stroll it's a car seat that also converts into a stroller. FAA approved and it's really handy. We took the kids with us to Europe for a month last year and that thing was ideal.

Have you tried calling the airline? Last time I was on a plane I am pretty sure I saw some kid in one with an American Airline logo on it. I could be wrong though.

You can buy a backpack sort of thing to carry around your existing car seat. I can't remember where the wife bought ours.

Related question: how many times has a plane successfully made a water landing, people been able to climb out of the plane, float with their seat cushion, and survive until a rescue boat arrives? Has this happened even once?

I think the time they spent talking about how to survive a water landing should be spent talking about how to group-rush a terrorist. The time spent asking "are you comfortable being in an exit row" should be spent identifying the most badass brawlers on the plane.

Wow -- wish I knew about these in April, when we did OUR trip to FL. Would have made things a lot easier, as schlepping that car seat through the connection in Dallas really sucked.

The combo seat/strollers are are great, too, as long as your 2-1/2 year old hasn't outgrown strollers.

One downside to the carseat on the plane: the carseat puts the child's feet that much closer to the seatback in front of them, which they may really enjoy kicking. We found removing our daughter's shoes made her less likely to attack the seat in front of her, which made the flight a lot less stressful.
