Default Top Trips against a stong line

Villian had done nothing of consequence except make a few bad river calls with one pair hands. I was playing pretty Lag (35/25/3 or so) 'cause I had been getting decent cards.

PokerRoom No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (5 handed) internettexasholdem.com

MP ($121.90)
Button ($76.30)
SB ($108.50)
BB :#A500AF(BB)/ ($115)
Hero ($106.10)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Hero raises to $4, 3 folds, BB :#A500AF(BB)/ calls $3.

Flop: ($8.50) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $6, BB calls $6.

Turn: ($20.50) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB bets $6, Hero raises to $20, BB raises to $34, Hero...

Thoughts and questions: When he lead into me on the turn, I wanted to raise to set up a bigger river bet, is this wrong? Once he three bet me, I am pretty sure he has either a Q, 33, JJ, or a very poorly played AA or KK (unlikely). His line screams strength, but I have a pretty strong hand myself. So my question is, should I be pushing this or trying to get to a cheap showdown?

Your Thoughts?

You're not going to be able to get a cheap showdown. Pot is ~ $90 and you only have ~ $60 left each. He likes his hand, you like yours - it's going in anyway.

You have 45% equity vs. JJ, 33, AQ & KQ; so I push getting nearly 2:1 odds when called.

Not necessarily if the heart falls on the river and creates fear of a flush draw. A heart would be a terrible card for Hero, because a) it decreases the bet Villain may be willing to call with a weaker Q, now knowing that he may be up against either a better Q or a made flush; and b) it may scare Hero into throwing out a smaller river bet, or checking behind, in fear of the flush.

Get your money in now. You are ahead of Villain's range.

A boat has to be a decent part of his range here. BB calls a 4BB open with a pair all the time. Once he makes this play, 33 or JJ seem very reasonable to me. It's only the fact that another AQ and KQ play this way too (and maybe AA), plus dead money, that make this a push IMO.

maybe I read too much 2+2, but I totally agree. When I see a c/c, b3b line like this, alarm bells start going off. This is one of two ways people play flopped sets (or boats).
