Default WSOP Primer From Lee Jones On PokerStars Blog

I thought this was informative. Although a lot of the info has been talked about here, it is a nice summary.

I stopped right here:

Q. Any advice on how to survive physically during a multi-day event?

A. I'll be the first to admit that Vegas is a party town. Save it. Save yourself. There will be time for revelry after you take the bracelet.

slight threadjack, but I am always excited for espn's wsop coverage. the wsop is the super bowl of poker and i always look forward to it.....then i saw it last night and remember that by the end of their coverage i want to hire a hit man to kill norman chad and the [censored] espn editor....
the commentators offer no insight or advice at all.. the most they say about the hand is he needs an ace or his wsop dream is over....[censored] horrible jokes, half ass commentary..and the icing on the cake are the [censored] half hour shorts on the player's lives....last night they went on and on about some black dealer and Katrina...and gavin's prop bet...who gives a [censored]? it makes me yearn for vince and sexton...imagine all the awesome poker were missin to hear about they player's lives and see ak vs 77 a million times

I give a [censored].

It makes it more interesting when you know something about the people involved.

the reason why the 03 wsop (moneymaker year) was so attractive was because you learned about the pros and their personalities and then watched them play. as the event grew larger and larger, many big names lost the limelight and espn was forced to focus on the players who would go on to do well, which made the tv show more and more boring
