"LONDON (Reuters) -- David Carruthers, chief executive of online gaming group BETonSPORTS has been detained by U.S. authorities while changing planes"

"The founder of BETonSPORTS.com, Gary Stephen Kaplan, 47, was also charged with 20 felony violations of federal laws, it said. A warrant has also been issued for the Kaplan's arrest."

""Illegal commercial gambling across state and international borders is a crime," U.S Attorney Catherine Hanaway of the Eastern District of Missouri said. "This indictment is but one step in a series of actions designed to punish and seize the profits of individuals who disregard federal and state laws."

Last week Carruthers told Reuters he thought that a U.S. Republican-written, House of Representatives-approved bill to crack down on Internet gambling by banning banks and credit card companies from processing the payments was bound to fail due to the mountainous backlog of other U.S. legislation."

"O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming!
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there:
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?"

Land of the free ... yeah right ... the US is turning into a police state. Anyone know why the US has so many people in their jails? Because the more people that are in jail the more $ they make by charging cheap prison labour like 25 cents an hour. Sweatshops which were overseas are now returning to US prisons because it's become cheap enough to do so. Nike has just moved a sweatshop it had in Indonesia to an Oregon prison because the people in that prison are getting paid something between 18 cents and 25 cents an hour. What do most people call that overseas ? Slavery ... it's a sad thing to make so many people go to jail so that higher ups can profit big bucks off so many people's miseries. Land of the free ? Again, yeah right ... this whole online gaming law is BS.

Carruthers was in custody in Fort Worth, Texas, after a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Missouri returned a 22-count indictment charging 11 individuals and four corporations on various charges of racketeering, conspiracy and fraud, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement.

Yes you are so right. There was just a story last week on my local news about a machine shop that is going out of business because they lost their main contract to the state prison which is going to be making the same thing they made but of course at a much lower price.
