Default AQo OOP vs tag

Wynn 15/30
Villian is a thinking tag and we’ve played a few hands together. In one I called his button raise from the bb, check/called the flop, and bet/folded the turn. In another hand he 3-bet my CO raise with AJo and screw played me on the turn when he made a straight.

Game just dropped to 6 handed. Villain opens utg, I call in bb with AQo.

Flop: A T x
I check call

Turn: 9
I check call

River: J
I bet/call.

After thinking about it I really don't like my line here.

Eh. I usually 3-bet this pre-flop if it is 6 handed. A TAG does not necessarily need a better hand to open with.

That being said, the pre-flop call isn;t terrible, but if I chose to make it, I would flat call the flop and then check-raise the turn.

Versus a thinking tag, aren't we a little concerned that he'll check a lot of weaker hands behind on the turn?

I don't mind the check call part its the river that is terrible. He's never raising you with a hand you can beat. Bet fold the river or check and call

This is pretty much what I was thinking. With the line I'd taken, I think check/calling is the only reasonable option on the river. At the time I was sort of thinking "Oooh, top pair shiny kicker" but an AJT9 board puts me behind a huge amount of his range.

Not really b/c most weaker hands only have 2 outs and when he checks the turn he almost forces himself to call the river. Giving a free card HU in a small pot isn't terrible

The river card is pretty much the worst card in the deck. Bad time to bet.

A flop check-raise is worth considering here, particuarly if you have an aggressive image.

I seriously considered this. Call down if raised on the turn?
