whats the play?
villain is spinyfish. I have a hard time beating him, but I thnk it's because he hits too many hands against me.
He is 35/27 over 1200 hands or so. He loves going to sd with any pair. Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is CO with 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG folds, Hero raises to $20, 2 folds, BB raises to $30, Hero calls. Flop: 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($65, 2 players) BB bets $10, Hero calls. Turn: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($85, 2 players) BB bets $20, Hero folds. Uncalled bets: $20 returned to BB. Results: Final pot: $85 |

Re: whats the play?
dude you have a gutter.
change the 2 to a 6 and its more interesting. i have a feeling i have been making too many mistakes by folding ace high in these situations bc i often see random cards from these laggy bb. |

Re: whats the play?
I like your line, but you could raise the turn for a free showdown/ you get an extra BB out of him if you hit.
But only try this if you are pretty confident he wont play back at u |

Re: whats the play?
my dear victor, would you care as to elaborate on why changing the 2 to a 6 would make it more interesting?
do you mean that with the gutshot my fold and flop play is terrible vs this opponent? |

do you mean that with the gutshot my fold and flop play is terrible vs this opponent? [/ QUOTE ] I always call the turn here, although I don't know if it's that clear. If he has a big PP, you have 7 outs. If he has a better ace, you have 7 outs. This is almost exactly the odds you're being given. Implieds help a little, flush draw and drawing dead potential hurt a little. But you could be ahead too. I think it all roughly offsets, but when I call this turn, my opponents fear me for the poker beast that I am. |

Re: whats the play?
Vs these type of players I cant see folding this. I would usually call a river bet as well.

[ QUOTE ] I always call the turn here [/ QUOTE ] Is a river call correct when we don't improve? [/ QUOTE ] I don't know. The whole reason I like calling the turn is because it pretty much doesn't matter what he has, but that goes out the window on the river. On the river card, you really need to guess what he'd bluff with. If you call you're hoping for KT. I've tried calling, folding, and raising, with various degrees of success. |

Re: whats the play?
In most cases a gutshot should escort Ace high at least to the river in spots like this.
