Default The World Series of Gambling Octathalon

First post here, but this seemed like at least some of you may enjoy it.

Essentially, 15 of my friends from all over get together each year (2 years now) and hold the The World Series of Gambling Octathalon (TWOGO)

Actually, the first year it was The World Series of Gambling Dodecatathalon (12 events) but that just lasted waaaaay too long (11AM-5AM the next day).

It is $100 per person, some of which we used for pizza and kegs.

Then the rest broke down (approximately) as follows:

1st in an Event: $50
2nd in an Event: $25

Additionally, for each event you played, you got points based on your order of finish and a running tally was kept.

Then the overall point leader at the end got ~$400, 2nd overall was $275..etc on down to 4th. (again, all value approximate)

We started a 11AM with...

EVENT #1 - Mini-Golf

EVENT #2 - Bowling (2 games , total score)

EVENT #3 - The Horse Track (Everyone had to use $20 of their own money and wager it 1X through. Most money made at end determined the order of finish

EVENT #4 - Bocce Ball (At this point we went back to our friends house to complete the last 5 events)

EVENT #5 - One-on-One-Single-ELimintaion-Beer-Pong-Tourney

EVENT #6 - No-Limit Holdem TOurney (For this, everyone kicked in and extra $20 each to make it a bit more juicy)

EVENT #7 - Darts

EVENT #8 - Double Elimination Rocks Paper Scissors

An absolutely amazing time.
There are a LOT more details that I cut out. In fact, we have a "Constitution" that is like 20 pages with all the rules, etc.

Hopefully you enjoy,

JW

PS: For anyone interested, the other events in last years were:

Plinko (yes, I built a board)
BlackJack
Craps (yes, I built a table)
Roulette

These were all eliminated for various reasons (hard to deal, long time, not everyone can play at once...etc...)

Yeah...

Once a year, all my friends from 5 states come.
For $100, we have a freakin' bangin' time.

I could see the three table games going (although hopefully you get some use out of that craps table), but PLINKO should be worked back into the mix, late in the contest. Perfect drinking game.

The OCTATHALON ran from 11AM to about 11PM if anyone is interested.

Left time for a night-cap poekr tourney.
