Default 4-player HU tourneys on Stars, how\'s the competition at the $5

I am not very good at HU, and I want to practice it especially playing with low blinds compared to stack size. I don't mind forking out $5.50 for a chance to practice and an outside chance at making $20.

I'm just wondering are there other players like me in these, just trying to gain some practice? Or are these mostly populated by HU specialists?

Definitely not populated by heads up specialists. It's a reasonably good place to work on your game. I play a lot of $5 stars HU matches. Most players are either way over aggressive or unbelievably passive calling stations. Every now and then you'll run into a decent player.

the $5's on stars are super easy. even if you've never really played hu, you're probably +ev in them if you're posting here

The competition is pretty weak indeed... however I'd reccomend playing 2-player as opposed to the 4-player tournaments. The only real reason is you can catch bad players and challenge them to rematches when you win (which bad players are more likely to accept) in quick 2-player matches. If you can do this multiple times in a day, you are really giving yourself an edge.

Yeah they do... typically after they've lost and they felt like they should've won. I don't find it happens very often, but I try to induce it when I'm playing especially mouthy players, as they are much more likely to have that mentality. If you have someone talking a lot of smack, and you feel you have an advantage, try to challenge them again (often you have to do this before the match is over, and they dissapear).

My personal record is taking the same guy 6 times in a row, each re-match is more likely, and each time it's more to your advantage, give it a shot!

Yes, but at the $5 dollar level it would be almost impossible to get a rematch since the tournaments always fill so quickly, correct? Besides, at the $5 4ways, there would be almost zero competition that is going to hurt signicifantly by playing.

In my opinion, the things you are talking about don't kick in until 50 and higher.

Usally what happens you get 1 of 3 types of players.

The idiot weak fish pushing all in on crap and raising like crazy.

The weak player who cant play and is easy to outplay/bluff

or the decent player who calls you down with medium pair and hits the set to cripple you then you grind back up and stack him.

In general fairly easy +ev for most
