Default PP $25NL TT Set Hand - Instacall?

Villain is 29/9/1.25 over 34 hands and seems to be a semi-decent player at least.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

saw flop|saw showdown

CO ($19.65)

SB ($7.55)

UTG ($24.30)
MP ($30.52)

Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10.

Often I would raise to $2 here, but I had been running over the game with lot's of PF raises so I decided to check here since I was OOP and there is a high likelyhood of an overcard on the flop. First mistake?

Flop: ($1) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)

Turn: ($5) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $4, MP calls $4, Button calls $36.79 (All-In), SB folds, Hero calls $21.40 (All-In), MP folds.
The only hand I am behind to is 98, which unfortunately is a possible holding for villain since I did not raise PF, but surely this is an insta-call taking into account that villain could have slowplayed a set of 5s on the flop or could have turned a set of 7s. Villain could even be doing this with two pair. Even if villain does have 98 then I still have 22.5% equity. Is this why I should have raised PF?
River: ($71.19) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $71.19

I'd raise pre-flop.

I'd call the turn push.

Yes. The fact that you've been running over the table should force you not to semi-bluff raise crap in this spot, not to stop you from raising your premium hands for value.

The "high likelyhood of an overcard on the flop" is another reason to raise, not to check. Your hand is very likely to be best right now, but it doesn't play well against a large field OOP, not raising here is a horrible mistake.

As played, flop is ok and turn an easy call.

Hero doesn't have top set, since there's a jack on the board.

Why would the villian raise it so much with the nuts? He could be protecting a medium strength + draw hand. I don't think he has 98 or JJ.

I'm putting my stack in everytime. That's why they let you reload easily.

So if I were to have raised PF then I wouldn't be in this situation right?

Well, "getting out of this situation" is sure as hell not the reason you raise pre-flop.

Ok thanks guys, I realise I made a mistake by not raising PF here, and yea I guess it does belong in BBV.
