right move with AK on loaded flop?
$11 sng. CO is pretty solid, BB is an idiot.

Re: right move with AK on loaded flop?
If CO is solid, then I don't think its the right move since he called the flop, but they all folded, so I guess everything worked out.

Re: right move with AK on loaded flop?
It's a big overbet. You're going to lose to anyone that calls (straight, two pair, set). The AQ, AJ, J-10 might call a reraise, but not your all in.
I'd raise preflop. But, as you played it, postflop, I'd reraise to 300, and play from there. If both CO and BB smoothcall, I'm probably beat, and give it up to strength on the turn. If just CO calls, I'm probably betting 1/2-2/3 pot on the turn and folding to an all-in. If just BB calls, given the "idiot" read, I'd assume I'm ahead and push on the turn. |

Re: right move with AK on loaded flop?
these are all very good points.
as for what i was thinking, the BB almost always thought an all-in signified a bluff, but generally folded to reraises. i saw him call some all-in's with nothing but 9 high (and suck out). i know i risked the CO destroying me with a monster, but i thought it worth the risk to take the BB's chips. of course, he folded.... |

Re: right move with AK on loaded flop?
Man, I've been OT today, so here's some poker. The call preflop is fine, IMHO. The overbet on the flop is good, especially at an $11. You will get called by the same hands a lot of the time that would call any raise. Sure, they will fold sometimes when they would have called, but you will be getting a lot more out of them the times they do call. And you are right, many people will see this as a bluff.
