I'm protecting my hand with a flop raise here -- the paired board means it's much more likely that this missed everyone and I want hands that can draw out on me to fold.
I would bet 450 on flop for a pretty standard continuation bet. |

Yep, C-bet flop for about 450, and if called hope to check it down or pick up your gutshot.
As played I think the push was unnecessary, check it down. |

i really dislike betting into this flop. assuming the blinds are 50/100, a cbet here leaves us with less than 9xBB which is somewhere we dont want to be (we're definitely folding to shove, right?) for this reason my default play is push pf; i have no problem with taking the blinds at this point.

pushing pf is fine too...its almost always fine with AKs...but its not the only way to play it
I guess the big problem with a C-bet is how to respond to a raise? Maybe checking behind is best on this dangerous board. |

I think that your opponents will usually either fold here, or call with a better hand. You have so many outs here I would prefer to simply check and hope to improve. Then extract more bets. Plus the occasions when the opponents simply check the river and you will win anyway would probably make this a more proftible move.
What do other people think ? |

Why not make a blocking bet on the turn so we get the river checked to us? Bet out ~250 and fold to a raise.

I edited to specify the turn. But you're right technically a blocking bet is one where you are OOP, but I have adapted this play for my own use while in position to "block" river bluffs and bets from marginal hands to achieve a cheap showdown.
