Default Has Anyone Used Movers to Move before?

Is there anything I should look out for? Scams they try to pull on me?

Do I want to get the full protection insurance for $75 more?

My trip is about 225 miles and they said there is a 4k lb. min. load and will cost $1800 + insurance + a mileage fee. Does this sound about right?

I've called several but most are super busy this time of year and this is the only place I have found that is available.

I'm not super worried on cost as my employer is reimbursing for it, but I'd still rather not pay more than necessary.

Thanks!

i use to work for an north american moving agent. my strongest suggestion would be to have the load wieghed twice at different weigh stations. i think there was shady stuff going on.

dont know what the going rates are.

i moved about a month ago and got help from two guys that i found on emove.com

they helped us for about 5 hours, i took care of the truck (filled about 2/3 of a 17ft), the move was about 70 miles and i think i paid them about 440 total, some of it was through emove, and some was under the table

well worth it in my opinion

my only piece of advice is to not rent a truck through emove.com deal directly with the local rental agency, the emove experience was horribly stressful

$1800 doesn't sound bad at all. I moved from NYC to northern NJ (about 15 miles) and it cost $1200. If you have a lot of valuables/breakable items, $75 is well worth it for peace of mind.

Why are you asking yourself questions and then answering them?

Some unreputable places will pack you're stuff up and then hold it hostage until you agree to pay more. I'd look here first.
