tight calves
I do a lot of running, erging and weightlifting.
Lately after about 30 minutes of doing any of these (weightlifting focused on legs). My calves have been getting incredibly tight, to the point where I have to stop what I'm doing. Does anybody have any idea what this might be? if so how do I start fixing it? I stretch periodically probably twice a day on average. |

Re: tight calves
Do you stretch after running? It's much more important than stretching before.

Re: tight calves
You need to develop flexibility in your calves. I've been working hard on it since the inflexibility in my calves was causing me problems in Jiu Jitsu. I'm sure there are enough resources online to find a good flexibility routine.

Re: tight calves
There's this great calf stretch where you form a ~70 degree angle by placing your hands on the floor, your feet on your toes, and your ass in the air. Then you take 1 foot and press down with its sole on the back of the other foot's heel.

Re: tight calves
Dont run slow. Make your running more interval style, and get your cardo from the pool or on the bike.
Stretching will do nothing. |

Warm up slighty, then stretch (dont' stretch cold) and always stretch afterwards. |

What other sort of exercises should I be doing? |
