Preflop Middle Pairs in EP

Okay, I screwed this hand up last night when I played it and I'm pretty sure of what I should have done. Here is the situation. I get 88 in UTG+2 and it is folded to me. The table has been tight and a lot of preflop raises have resulted in it being folded around.

If it had been a loose passive table, I would limp in, hope for a lot of callers, and hope to hit a set on the flop. Dump the pair if a lot of overcards come.

But in such a tight table, it is a raise or fold situation. With the table tight of it is, I think it is a raise. Correct?

Easy raise. I think I'm playing 88 from any position even on a tight table. Not every flop is overcards, not every TAG will stick around waiting to hit is overcards.

Where did you get this from? What limits/table types does it apply to?

On a tight table? I'd tend to fold rather than limp these on a real tight table.

at really tight tables, I start stealing with hands like 98s in utg.
