This is a hand I watched. MP1 had AA in the pocket. Comments on the way he played it?

Tell your "freind" that this is a horrible way to play AA. Raise pre-flop, it is probably easiest to remember to never slow play AA. There are times you can, but from what you've told us this isn't one.
The turn brings 2 flush draws to the board, why would you check and give someone a free card? On the flop you showed aggression, why wouldn't you continue it on the turn? By my reckonin' your "friend" gave away 2 small bets pre-flop and one BB on the turn for a total of 3 BB. Lately that would take me 300 hands to make up. |

He wasn't a friend, just some guy at the table. I agree about the missed bets and posted the hand so 2+2ers could see how not to play AA.

Well tell this "guy at the table" that he should have raised preflop, on the flop, on the turn and on the river.

I guess you still not got it.
Your post looks like the guy who goes to doctor and say "I have a friend with a erection problem..." |

We dont have any reads on the table, but I am not keen on limping preflop with AA.
If you raise with good hands in addition to premium hands from MP, you should still get callers with AA if your opponents are loose or have something decent. At least this player did not try to slowplay the flop, when he made his set. Even though his hand was strong, the flop was sufficiently coordinated with straight/flush draw possibilities, that raising was correct. I think this player should then have bet the turn. His checking behind after raising the flop may have given the impression that he was on some kind of a draw, and perhaps thats why his opponent called his river bet. However, not betting the turn looks like he was missing a bet, as his opponent would probably have called with a draw, and could easily have folded the river unimproved. |

If the table is rather tight and everyone usually folds to my raises I open-limp with AA in EP and MP1 occationally(!). Raising the flop with straight and flush draws available is the correct play imo.
Checking behind on the turn is FPS, I think. This might induce a crying call on the river, however he also gives a free card to a draw. Bet turn is the better play imo. |
