Default Wine to drink with duck

Have been invited to a friend's house for dinner. She is cooking duck.

(I am not sure how she is cooking it, apart from the point that it will not be with mushrooms, at my request.)

The basic question is what colour wine do I bring?

Any further comments also appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ducks prefer beer to wine.

I like a zinfandel, not white zinandel...red zinfandel.

Dashe Creek is a pretty good wine for under 20. I recommend it. I like the darker stronger wines for something fatty like duck....it's also likely to be sweet so the strong flavors of a zinfandel seem to make it pop for me.

This is correct. Try an Oregon Pinot Noir (preferably 2002) if you're uncomfortable buying French wines. A German Riesling would also work nice.

An overpowering marinade/sauce could drastically change these recommendations.
