Re: Folding top pair weak kicker on the flop
there was discussion earlier on these threads about NOT folding top pair weak kicker on the flop. I want to confirm that this is a standard fold.

Re: Folding top pair weak kicker on the flop
...
you have TPNK on a board with a flush draw and a possible made straight (and a crap load of opponents) ... TPNK, isn't an auto fold always - but the board needs to be more random than this IMO |

Most importantly the pot is small, the board is very coordinated, and you have TP worst kicker with 5 people to act behind you. You're likely drawing to 3 outs to make two pair, and you won't win with that all that often with that board. edit 1: most importantly the pot is smallish here. edit 2: we have less than 3 outs to make 2 pair given the 2-flush on the board. |

Re: Folding top pair weak kicker on the flop
Borderline fold. In absolute terms, the pot is not small, but given the number of players left to act, it is not big enough to try to defend. You have no back door redraws, four nonheart outs that may not win, a hell of a lot of redraws, and the potential to be behind TP?K.
Also, don't count on seeing the turn for one bet. Now if it checked to the button who bets, I'd consider raising, or calling and checkraising a safe turn. But other than that, this doesn't play. |

Fold.
You would be playing defense the entire hand against most likely 3+ opponents while in EP. |

Re: Folding top pair weak kicker on the flop
i think this is a marginal situation. technically you had odds to draw and may have had the best hand but out of position a fold is ok i think.
