Default An acceptable sample size

I just bought poker tracker and I don't want to put too much stock in early results.

What is a good sample size to start believing the results are not just a rush of good or back luck?

The answer depends on how sure you want to be. See this thread for how to get the figure yourself. (Edit: and yes, the answer is going to be much larger than you may expect).

I think it really depends on what statistic you're looking at. For example, you'll be getting a good idea of your VP$IP after 10k hands, but you're not going to find out your true winrate with AA until after like 5 million hands.

so 1 guy says 25K, another says 100K, another says 1 million, and yet another says 5 million.

That pins things down nicely.

The guy who said 'it depends on what stat' is the winner.

If you are thinking specifically about win rate then the 5 million hands guy probably wins.
