This was my first time playing B&M in a while, and an odd little situation came up that can be summarized pretty simply. 10/20 limit, very soft game. 4 players limp, then the extremely short stack button goes all in for $13 total, raising the bet by $3 from $10 to $13.
The SB calls, and I call in the big blind because I have two cards. The limpers call around to the CO, who declares "raise". The dealer and the floor (he was already at the table, so no delay to save me $7) considered the only issue to be whether the CO could raise an additional $10 to $23, or merely complete the raise to $20. When I suggested that he can't raise period because the action for the limpers is closed, or at least restricted to call or fold, they looked at me like I had three heads, and I dropped the subject. Robert's Rules says I'm right. Is there something I'm not seeing, or do I just accept this as a bad decision and move on to the next complaint? |

Yes, he can only call. Horrible decision by a horrible floor in a horrible casino.

[/ QUOTE ] This is not only a horrible decision, but it's horrible regarding a decision that is absolutely cut and dry and relatively simple (of course the CO can only call the additional $3, or fold). It's not a judgement call that in good faith could be ruled another way "for the good of the game". I would consider complaining to management. That said, in LA many dealers and some floor have problems with slightly more complicated variations of the rules regarding the betting action (i.e., the "half or more bet or raise acts like a full bet/raise rule, a smaller bet/raise does not reopen the betting for a player who has already acted on all previous bets/raises"). I've had my action killed or a cap called incorrectly so many times it makes my head spin. ~ Rick |

You are right, but in many venues they are unfamiliar with the rules to poker.

[ QUOTE ] Is there something I'm not seeing, [/ QUOTE ] CO is a regular and a good tipper. [/ QUOTE ] CO was from out of province, played about 15% of his hands, tipped $1 at most, and failed to tip at least two pots that I saw. Floorpersons cannot accept tips at this casino. |
