Need to drink, can\'t get too drunk: What to order?
I am going to be in a social/business setting that will last a couple of days. It's my first time attending and I'm told that a great deal of drinking is often involved in the social events. I do not drink often but have nothing against it. I'm afraid that if I try to keep up with the rest of them I'll just pass out and will miss everything. I don't want to order 'girly' drinks. What can I order that looks 'manly' but won't get me blasted too quickly?
ps. I'd also like to avoid hangovers. edit to say: I don't really like beer very much and I get filled up from it too fast. |

Just drink light beer and nurse it. Hope nobody notices.
If not that, get something like a vodka & soda, then switch to straight soda after one drink. NT |

i love bloody marys. it's my standard flight beverage. the high water (tomato juice) content should go a long way toward avoiding hangovers. you can switch to virgin marys.
i don't deeply concern myself with the social implications of my drinks, but i don't think that it has any negative associations. most people know what one is, but never even seem to see it get ordered. |

Gin and tonic, switch to tonic. I was doing this for a while for entirely different reasons, and I'm happy to say that the human powers of rationalization and confabulation are alive and kicking.

Order a "wheelbarrow"
it's a fancy name so it sounds like you're ordering a drink but the ingredient is: water. |

Once that ice melts, you'll have this soupy mess that keeps growing warmer. Still...mmmm, delicious scotch. Just order a bud light or an amstel light and nurse that puppy. Plenty of manly dudes order up buds and amstels, and I doubt one of those things would knock anybody out. |

Coke and Lime - people are convinced there is vodka in there. Visibly order vodka coke a couple times, then switch.
