This weekend, we had our broke friend show up. We offered to let him deal for the night. He of course didnt play, but made $45 in tips in 4 hours of play. Which is pretty good because we are playing .25/.50 NL. Does anyone have an issue with this? I know that some might, if you show up to a game you rarely play in and there is a dedicated dealer, OMG he is cold decking me, might cross your mind if you running bad. It really sped up the game the dealer use to deal for a living. Thoughts?

Why would you be more likely to suspect a dedicated dealer of cheating than you would the other players?

Good question. I have no idea. LOL, I am just playing devils advocate, if someone new comes to our games, and sees us all chummy with the dealer.... The connection could be made quickly.

It's a danger for newbies- hopefully you're not stupid enough to use someone as a dealer who has questionable ethics.

Maybe have various players cut the deck, use a 3- or 4- stack cut and that should eliminate most of the "risk" for the perception.

I'm one of the dedicated dealers in my home game (and I play while dealing).
Our system is to have the button shuffle one deck while the other deck is played for a hand. When the hand is over, I grab the newly shuffled deck, give it one cut and deal.
Seems pretty simple and effective.

I've done this at one game I've been at (dealt for anyone who didn't want to deal with it).. and I got toked sometimes.

You must just suck as a dealer! :P

Here too, there are two or three of us that are quick enough to keep a 10 player game moving. In our game the winner of the last hand shuffles. Might swith over to the button though. We play a tournament style game and the winners always toke the dealer unless he finishes in the money.
