Default Help me pick some games for my stepdad

Hello!

I'm trying to find some PC games for my stepdad. He's running out of games to play, waiting for C&C3 and Supreme Commander. He's been playing C&C Generals for ages now (also the Zero Hour expansion). He mostly enjoys the RTS genre of games, but they have to have a somewhat realistic approach (more WWII than Starcraft).

We were talking about games, and the game Gods came up. Now as I remember correctly, this game was made by The Bitmap Brothers for the Amiga. He enjoyed that type of game also (a more mature (than mario) platform game)).

So what I'm getting at, is if anyone could recommend some games I could try to get a hold of for my stepdad, which fits his "profile":

(small list of games he has enjoyed in the past)

- Whole C&C series
- Gods (Amiga platform game)
- Aliens, platform game for the Super Nintendo
- Warblade (got tired of it after beating me and my brother's record, which we in turn - couldn't beat)
- Civ series (Think he got tired of it)
- Ports of Call

I've been trying to get him to play some FPS style games, but he doesn't seem too interested in them.

Any ideas for some games I could try to get him?

Tell your stepdad to man up and play real games.

Starting with Oblivion, followed by Fallout series if he wants to be a G.

To be honest, I really only play FPS and RPGs so I can't make any suggestions to his "likes" except for maybe Prey, which is coming out in about five days.

It's a first person shooter made by 3d Realms, the guys who made Duke Nukem 3D like 57 years ago.

Agreed. Entire Splinter Cell series has been fantastic.

My only complaint was that the multiplayer was terrible.

Ok thanks. I'll try Splinter Cell then, since he's into that sort of sniper thing anyways =) Any recommendations for other genres?

Ya, Splinter Cell is REALLY cool. It's really interactive with the environment and it's much more about stealth and smarts rather than the typical FPS where there's a lot more blow em up violence.

That being said, there's sooooo many ways to kill a man in Splinter Cell that it makes the game amazing. You can sneak hang from a pipe and wait for an enemy to walk under you and you can then grab them and snap their neck!
