connecting TiVO to my wireless network
I ordered a compatible wireless usb adapter for my Tivo from Tivo.com. now i can't get it to connect to my router. I know this is a very vague discription of the problem, but any ideas? There is a frame on the menu where i can enter the ip address and other such addresses, but i'm not sure what they should be and the auto feature doesn't seeme to be working.
Thanks for any and all help. -Sloth |

Re: connecting TiVO to my wireless network
Never tried this, but here's a suggestion:
Go to a computer connected to your router. Start>run>cmd Use the command ipconfig/all This should give you a starting point as to what each of these settins are. The IP address will probably be different; you may need to look into how your router assigns it to different connections. |

Re: connecting TiVO to my wireless network
If it is the same problem I had, it has to do with using the same encryption. the router and the Tivo need to be using the same wireless encryption, IIRC. If you want to try this out, turn off the encryption on both, and see if it works. I believe the problem was the default encryption on the router, the Tivo could not use that form. IIRC. So the router setting had to be changed to one that the Tivo could use.

Re: connecting TiVO to my wireless network
This will work. Best way to fix this, take your tivo over to a friends house and have it do a daily call. It will update itself to the latest tivo firmware. The newer firmware will help. Do reference tivocommunity.com. The people on there are experts.
