Default odds of set over set

anyone know the odds of getting a set in holdem and getting beat by a higher set?

I'm not talking about when the board pairs and you have trips and get beat by someone with a higher kicker, I am only talking about when you have a pocket pair and someone else has a pocket pair, and you both hit a set. this has happened 3 days in a row and seems really odd

7.5:1 everytime you hit you're set.

Odds of set over set with a smaller PP are about 50:1 or 2%.

If you have a set and the board has no pairs, there are anywhere from zero (you have top set) to four (you have bottom set) pairs that outset you.

Of the 990 possible hands someone could hold, 3 of them will give higher sets for every card on the board higher than your set. So that's between 0 and 12 over 990. That's about 1 time in 83 if you have bottom set.

However, at a table of 10, the odds that one of the 9 other players was dealt such a hand is almost 9 times as great. Since some or all of the hands that beat you are high pairs, and all are pairs, people are likely to play most of them.

Another point is when no one has a set, you're less likely to get to showdown. If someone is calling your bets, to the river, and there are no straight or flush possibliites or pairs on the board, you have to figure them for at least top pair/top kicker, two pair or a set. Granted the lower hands are more likely, but you're still going to see higher sets a reasonable amount of the times you get to showdown with a middle or bottom set.

7.5:1 does not make much sense to me. That's 11.8% Take a classic showdown such as wired pair vs wired pair. There is 20% for the 2-outer dog to pull through by the river.

I suppose it's rare, but it sucks more when you flop a set and lose to someone with a smaller set (that makes quads). It's particularly frustrating when it happens on the river, and you probably can't blame your opponent for getting all the chips into the middle either. Oh, well. I'll just blame my PC, even though I know it has nothing to do with it.
