Poker Moods
The more i play poker the more i realise the effect my mood has on the way i play. If i am calm, cool and collected i seem to play much more solid with less errors however if angry or stressed i more often than not lose money due to not thinking things through clearly.
Because of this i've been trying to come up with a way to always play solidly given my mood. All i can think of so far is having a set pattern of thinking for every decision. For example, preflop - check cards, check position, check amount to play and decide to raise, call or fold given these factors. If i always think in this order and develop a habit would it remove the mood part of the game? Do any other 2+2 users do anything like this or do they just play with no set pattern of thinking? Does anyone know if professionals do something similar to this to help them play everyday? all opinions would be appreciated. Cheers |

Re: Poker Moods
Psych forum indeed
Speaking from my own experience, I have no system. The key is to identity different mood and recognize these, when they occur. So if slighty tilted or in other ways of my A game I can quit. And have different A games for moods that aren't unsound like tilt, but still demand something else. I go from setmining nit to SLAG (I play full ring, so no LAG) depending on how tired and inspired I am. |
