Pocket 8\'s Four handed..Did I make the correct decision?
Here's the situation....
4 handed home game, 1st pays $220, 2nd pays $100. I am second in chips with about 8,000 and level is $150/$300. CO ($800 chips) is a lagtard and Button ($6500)is a solid player. I am UTG with 88 and make it $900 to go. CO moves in for less, and Button moves in. What's the correct decision to make here? I am not sure it is so clear cut... |

that said, fold without reads. If they're really really really freaking loose, call

Re: Pocket 8\'s Four handed..Did I make the correct decision?
What's your table image? If you've been playing fast and loose, the button may think a small pair or ANY ace probably has you beat. If that's the case, you probably need to call.
But if you have a tight image, would the button try to isolate against the all in player by raising you off a hand with only a small pair or ace x? Since he's not obviously ahead of the all in player with that hand, isolating is probably an error; you both benefit by knocking him out. Just calling you and checking to the river is the best way to eliminate the short stack. This leaves the button with either a big ace or a larger pair. I'd fold since you still have lots of chips, may be way behind, and the button is probably ahead of the all in player and will knock him out. But I'm a wuss |

Re: Pocket 8\'s Four handed..Did I make the correct decision?
My image is solid but button knows I could have made the UTG raise with a number of hands in a short handed game. Calling and checking would make sense but I gather the button is trying to win it and is not thinking about moving up. The CO is a donk so the button (who is also my brother) probably figured it wouldn't be long anyways.

Your brother! You've GOT to call now. If you fold, he'll show you cheese and never let you forget it! Sibling rivalray and all that!
