Move closer to the casino. Otherwise, it is just part of the job, like anyone else that commutes to work. It is a necessary evil, unfortunately.

Steps:
1. Buy used u-haul
2. Move all of your stuff into it
3. Weatherproof said u-haul
4. Drive to casino
5. Book poker room rate at hotel for next 6 months

Live at the casino, as simple as that

Is it really such a big deal to pay an extra $2 or so for gas?

For instance, my favorite place is 32 miles from my house(Van Nuys to Commerce). My car gets 20 mpg and I have to use premium. So its about $3.35 a gallon where I live. Two years ago it was $2.35 or so a gallon. So it takes ~3 gallons of gas for the round trip.

3*3.35 = $10.05
3*2.35 = $7.05

$3 difference. 1/6th of a BB. Big effin deal.

Unless you're playing 1/2 limit or driving from NY to LV 2X a week this shouldn't even be an issue.

Gas prices are dropping anyways.

I hear you I tried playing live as a part time job and after I factored in the gas cost about 10 to 12 a trip multiplying out the trips about 12 a month and the extra food and maintence costs on my car(a beater), I decided to never play live beyond entertainment. The best thing I can think of is move up a limit so that the cost of paying is less of factor in your expenses. I only played 5/10 live and that cost was too high for that limit. I figured with major repair bills and gas and food I was losing half my "profits" to expenses....
