Eric Haber SnG article in Fox Poker

In the article he talks about when you should be pushing rather than raising (in his example) 3x the BB. He says the following:

"Take the classic example of there being $1000 in the pot pre-flop ($200-$400 with $50 antes) and you have say 4400 in chips - another way is to say if there is 7.5bbs and antes it would be about 4.5 x the pot. Those are kind of the two lines of demarcation for when you really should be pushing as opposed to just making a standard raise. Because you are going to be getting about 2-1 on your calls if you get re-raised all-in anyway, so it's better off to just push all-in in the first place."

Can someone please explain this to me? He's saying that if there are antes as well as blinds, you should push rather than raise 3x the BB if your M is less than 4.5. Am I understanding this correctly? If so, where does he get this number from?

Surely this will depend upon the number of antes in the hand. In his example he assumes 8 antes, or is this irrelevant?

Yeah I did the interview on the phone and that passage came out weird...I was just trying to set up scenarios where raising 3x was going to give you 2-1 or so on a reshove, which amounted to 4400 in the pot or so at 200/400 with another 400 in antes or your stack being 7.5 bbs with no antes (1500 chips at 100/200) etc. I was just trying to reduce the discussion to a scenario where standard raising was starting to become irrelevant.

Yes the amount of antes obv makes a differnece as it changes what is in the middle (and thus your m etc)
