Villain is unknown: has played 2/5 hands since he sat down. AF of 1, only have 5 hands on him. Do I refrain from value betting here?

Can I ask what you guys are putting villain on? I likely would've missed this bet too.

(And, if I were the villain, I'd fold to a bet with anything less than a K, straight, or flush. Would that be too weak?)

Villain could be on AQo with the Ad. Villain could have any PP that didn't set up. Villain could have a flush and fear the fullhouse. Villain could be on a stool or a comfy chair. You will constantly see villains call here without a K, you will see smarter villains raise here without a K. Most of the time a K would have played back by now and the decision would be tougher.

Ok, I could definitely see this. If would be weird for any K hand to not speak up before the river.

actually i think this is a great spot to induce a bet from the A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Also I don't get bet/call. If we expect a bluff/raise we should c/c. I would not expect to call a raise and win very much.

You're right that we're probably not good very much when raised, but i can't fold for 1 more bet, especially against a relative unknown.

Does this mean we shouldn't bet the river in the first place? No! All kinds of crappy hands are calling (we don't have much of a read, but with the read we do have, we can expect calls from PPs and 9s and other garbage). Also, if we check, we let him bet his good hands and check behind with his bad hands. Yucky.

Hence, bet/call.
