Shuttles are the cheap bastard\'s friend
Possible? Technically, yes. Not a good idea unless you're insane.
To get to the Rio for free more quickly and comfortably, walk north along the strip to the Paris and take the shuttle to the Rio. The Paris is the second casino north from the MGM. |

Re: Can I walk from MGM to Rio
This walk is easily doable. But, you don't want to do it once it gets above 95 degrees. Bring a bottle of water with you if you do.
I routinely walk 1-2 miles even on the hottest days. But, I'm used to it. Everyone posting "you can't walk from here to here" are pansies. |

Cab will be like $10. If you are palying a $1500 MTT I think you could afford to spring for a cab ride. Also you don't want to exhaust yourslef right before palying what could be some of the most important poker of your life.
My 2 cents. |

Re: Can I walk from MGM to Rio
I walked from the rio to treasure island once (a little more than half that distance i think) and it was pretty much like taking a trip through hell as it was 100 degrees plus outside. It is doable, but you definately need to bring water, and if you can't stand the heat forget about it. After the sun goes down it should be fine, but it will still take about half an hour to get there.

but the cab up LV blvd will be going 1.5X the speed of walking. [/ QUOTE ] The nicest part of having the WSOP in July this year is the fact that it's the quietest time of year in Vegas. Traffic isn't as bad; restaurant reservations aren't as bad; casinos aren't as crowded; etc. And while you may think that having a few thousand people all in one place for a poker tournament is a lot, consider that Vegas routinely has conventions with 5-10x this many people... -Aces |
