Instead of check-folding the turn

Hypothetical 100NL with $100 effective stacks.

2 limpers and you raise 88 to $6 from the CO. Button coldcalls and everyone else, including the limpers, fold.

$15 pot on a K93r board. You c-bet $11 and the button calls. Crap.

$27 pot on the turn. Turn is a brick.

I'm currently check-folding this turn to 95% of my opponents, which I think is standard. If not, please let me know.

However, what about this as an alternative?

Bet $2 into the $27 pot . What are the effects?

1) He raises me and I fold. Oh well. Had I checked he would have bet so I've only lost $2.

2) He folds. This would be somewhat rare and probably only happen when he has a worse hand, but might prevent us from check-folding a better hand.

3) He calls. Bingo. He has a draw or a hand he's not 100% certain about. Let's exploit that. We've kept the pot smallish ($31 on the river) and can now bet $25-31 as a profitable bluff. Oh, and we gave ourselves 14:1 on hitting our 2 outer, which is a nice little nugget.

Doing this against aggressive players will cause you to get raised with probably more hands than he would bet if checked to. He folds this probably never. The only thing this really accomplishes is it pisses a lot of people off.

Oops. The turn pot is actually $37, not $27. I think this makes a $2 bet even better than if the pot was smaller.

It's like, "ok Spy Dog bet a stupid amount... let's see my notes. Hmmm... it says he will fold to a raise. I raise"

Or he might figure out you bet big on the river with a weak pocket pair and kill you on the river.

Instead, if you make a real bet, he doesn't know if his weak king or nine is good. And if you sometimes fire a second barrel and are called, it may help get your better hands paid off.

my standard is c/f. might be weak tight but I don't care. I might 2nd barrel if:
- there is a draw
- turn brings overcard (for example flop was 9s5s4h and turn is Kd)

I don't recommend minbetting unless you are against me and have a good hand, because I will raise minbets like always.

Most people don't take notes. And, if I do this against a thinking player and he raises then I can add to my notes 'player X raises my vagina bets'.

And, if this is getting raised too often for it to be a profitable move then min-betting monsters would probably be the best play on the turn. Since I doubt that minbetting is the best play with a monster then I'm thinking it might be the best play with a weak made hand that contains few outs.

I didn't know that LOLTrickedU used this play but I can't say I'm really that surprised when I think about it's merits.
