Adjusting from Full-Ring to 6max
I apologize if someone has written a lengthy post about this and i was unable to find it using the search engine.
But do to the lack of any good full ring games at the site i normally play at i decided i'd try out some 6max... I used to play 6 max with some moderate success a long time ago before i realy got a good handle on poker, and since had switched to full ring where i've had decent success Anyway I had a blast and profited during my 6max session, but the game was very up and down for me... I was wondering what adjustments I should make when switching to shorthanded... I generally play microstakes .25/50 .5/1 with occasional shots at 1/2 and 2/4 since i've aquired tracker my FULLring stats are as such over 25k hands VPIP = 22.44 Vol put from sb = 49.94 Folded Sb to Steal = 80.48 Folded BB to Steal = 47.75 Att to Steal Blinds = 18.79 BB/100 hands = 4.31 went to showdown 35.38 Won at showdown 51.29 PR raise 9.15 I dont have enough hands to really give an good stat summary from my 6max game *only about 800* hands but my vpip is doubled... And i worry that i may be too loose and too aggro shorthanded... I guess my question is, what and where do i adjust my game when playing shorthanded... |

Re: Adjusting from Full-Ring to 6max
"VPIP = 22.44 "
-Bit too low. "Vol put from sb = 49.94" -Too high. "Folded Sb to Steal = 80.48" -Looks good. "Folded BB to Steal = 47.75" -Looks ok. "Att to Steal Blinds = 18.79" -Way too low. "BB/100 hands = 4.31" -Too high. "went to showdown 35.38" -Looks right. "Won at showdown 51.29" -Looks right. "PR raise 9.15" -Mayday Mayday! -Caddy |

Re: Adjusting from Full-Ring to 6max
With the caveat that you have to be a good postflop SH player to implement it correctly, just take a look at one of the many PF hand charts here.
Considering that you are stealing at the same rate that many players raise across the entire table, you don't have to be worried about being too aggressive preflop. However, you don't have the postflop stats up so we can't know. That said, playing good SH poker is all about playing well after the flop (once you have raised your big hands for value, isolated weak players with sometimes marginal hands, and defended correctly). |

Re: Adjusting from Full-Ring to 6max
22 VPIP is fine but that corresponds to a 15-17 pfr and a 32-38 att to steal. Most on this board play looser, but it is not necessary. Stop limping and raise your strong hands. People limp in these games with any two suited, punish them.
