Good news: I got nice reads on everyone at the table...
Bad news: ...except this clown. Second hand. Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Preflop: Hero is CO with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG posts a blind of $0.50. 1 fold, Hero raises, 1 fold, SB calls, UTG (poster) calls. Flop: (6 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, UTG bets, Hero raises, SB folds, UTG calls. Turn: (5 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero... So yeah maybe I'm just being paranoid but this is exactly how I'd play a 5 vs a PFR, so that's what it smells like to me. 8BB isn't nearly enough to peel if I'm a 3-outer, so if I'm calling I'm showing down. Am I? |

The good news: Someone posting in UTG probably doesn't play as you do.
The bad news: I think you are boned anyway. There are as many jacks out there as fives, and unless he has something like A/KsTs, I can't see him playing anything you beat like that. A jack slowplay just doesn't make much sense (given the guys post his plays might not make sense, but even fish sense this does not make.) and it is hard to see any hand you beat that improved on that turn playing like that. So he's got a five or Maybe even JT? I dunno, I fold and feel pretty good about it. |

yeah i'd be scared shitless too...
it's hard to say what to do though... 8BB isnt' enough to peel a 3 outer, but is it enough to peel a 3 outer and then buy a read?!???!??!?!?! i'd probabaly fold this, but i dont like it... |

I'd seriously consider just calling the flop.

I'd seriously consider just calling the flop. [/ QUOTE ] Why would you consider floating this flop? He could easily be donking a J or FD, and we can't be comfortable raising the turn if it is a K or Q. |

I'd seriously consider just calling the flop. [/ QUOTE ] With the last guy in there I disagree, but you're probably right. I suppose based on the guy's average outs (sb) you can call and let him come along incorrectly. --Dave. |

I'd seriously consider just calling the flop. [/ QUOTE ] what about checking behind on the turn instead once its heads-up? hmm.. the # of players doesn't match the action.. only 3 players on the flop. if there were 4, i like the flop raise more. |

this is exactly how I'd play a 5 vs a PFR [/ QUOTE ] Well you and villian are in a huge minority. A 5 normally check/call, checkraises; or checkraises right away; or bet/3bets. bet/call, checkraise is so rare with trips I call down. |

So I called down. Mainly because I was pissed.
And of course I got shown...er, J2o. He didn't last long. |
