NL$2 6max - Stupid bets with AK?
i felt like i played this hand pretty bad. the board was pretty drawy so i thought i could maybe bet enough to get the villain off a flush or straight draw, or maybe a small pair. should i have given up after he called the flop? and how many of you fire the 3rd barrel and put him all in on the river? i was seriously tempted to since i don't think a flush or straight is checking this river, but i lost my will after he called me down on all other streets.

Re: NL$2 6max - Stupid bets with AK?
Note that this is NL5. It's a 5$ buyin.
Also, I'm playing at this level myself, so don't take this as expert advice. I'd make a smaller preflop raise. 0.08 or 0.10. Then yes, fire a continuation bet of about 1/2 to 3/4 pot. It's less expensive if you don't get the fold. I've found that you don't need to make a pot-sized bet to get the fold if they don't have anything. Flop: normally, I'd say this call means that he has *something* (paired three, six or four), but not a monster, unless he has a read on you as being overly aggressive, and that you'll do the betting for him. But you have nothing, and you didn't get the fold you wanted, so I'd stop betting on the turn and hope to check it down or catch one of your overs. Reads would help a lot here. |

i don't think a flush or straight is checking this river [/ QUOTE ] They check hopping u to think that. Third barrel bluff in ssnl in most of cases is -EV IMO. |

i thought 100BB is the standard buyin? [/ QUOTE ] It is, but at this level on stars you can buy in for $5. Take advantage of that. As for the hand, I like c-betting the flop but will hardly ever fire the second barrel in this spot. Firing on the river is a massive spew. |

Re: NL$2 6max - Stupid bets with AK?
This is $2NL and Hero has a full stack.
Preflop and flop are standard. You probably aren't getting him to fold when you fire on the turn, so I wouldn't do it at this level. He's either chasing his draw (which you are ahead of anyway) or not folding his pair. Make the tradeoff by just checking the turn, because he probably isn't betting the river in either case unless he hits his draw, and your AK will take it down with A high over his missed draws. |

This is $2NL and Hero has a full stack. [/ QUOTE ] Nope. Stars' lowest level (0.01/0.02) has a 5$ max buyin. |

Re: NL$2 6max - Stupid bets with AK?
is it really that bad that i'm only playing with 100BB? if i buyin with $5 every time i would have less than 8 buyins with my current roll.
